Current News:
The Oregon Health Care Foundation (OHCF) is the nonprofit, charitable organization dedicated to supporting Oregon's long term health care profession.
OHCF was established in 2000 to provide educational opportunities for current and future employees at long term care (LTC) facilities in Oregon, programs that enrich the lives of Oregon Seniors, and outreach to enhance the public understanding and appreciation of the long term care profession.
Each year OHCF awards over 50 general studies scholarships to long term care professionals for continuing education as well as scholarships for specialized study. The Foundation has also helped to facilitate the fulfillment of senior wishes through the Senior Wish Program by training 150 long term care professionals annually and directly funding many of these initiatives while promoting the effort throughout the state.
The priority goals of the Oregon Health Care Foundation are to:
- Promote careers in long term care by awarding scholarships to those seeking employment in the long term care field as well as professionals in the industry for continuing or advanced education.
- Play a lead role in improving the quality and accessibility of long term care professional education by working to expand and enhance programs at existing institutions of higher learning, and supporting the development of new programs at these institutions.
- Promote the Senior Wish Program that fulfills the dreams of Oregon seniors by providing training to long term care professionals on how to conduct the program, and by providing direct funding to help make the wishes a reality.
- Work to create a positive public perception of the profession by promoting the good work of the Foundation.
The Foundation is affiliated with the Oregon Health Care Association.
